Maggie Glenski: Building a Business and a Community for Women Founders

Maggie Glenski

In the world of digital marketing and entrepreneurship, few stories are as inspiring as that of Maggie Glenski. From working with some of the biggest brands in the world to building her own business from the ground up, Maggie has navigated the highs and lows of entrepreneurship with resilience and determination. Today, she is the founder of Wrinkles Content Studio, a digital marketing agency, and The Foundership, a growing networking group for women founders and business owners.

Maggie’s journey began at the University of Missouri, where she studied journalism with a focus on strategic communications. After graduation, she took on the fast-paced world of advertising in New York City, working at the renowned Dentsu and BBDO.

After four years in NYC, Maggie returned to Kansas City and joined VML, where she spent six years running a mix of traditional, digital and social media marketing campaigns for brands like Gatorade, Tropicana, Dannon, and Intel. While she loved the challenge, the pace of agency life eventually took its toll.

In July 2021, Maggie made the bold decision to start her own business. “It was a combination of a lot of things,” she recalls. “We were coming out of COVID, we had our first child, and I was already hitting the burnout phase. I just kept telling myself, ‘Get to maternity leave and you’ll be fine,’ thinking that would fix it all.”

But maternity leave was anything but a break. “I got to maternity leave, and it was just like trading one chaos for another,” she says. Navigating new motherhood while recovering from burnout made it clear that something had to change. “I realized I couldn’t continue at the rate I was working. It had nothing to do with the agency I was at—it was an industry-wide issue.”

Determined to create a more sustainable career, Maggie launched Wrinkles, a digital marketing agency designed to bring big-agency expertise to small businesses that need it most. “I wanted to give my big agency experience to smaller businesses that are trying to grow but don’t have the budget yet,” she explains.

Starting a business is never easy, and for Maggie, the journey took an unexpected turn when she had her second child just one year into running Wrinkles. “I took the full 12 weeks of maternity leave, and when I came back in December 2022, it was radio silence,” she recalls. “I had no new business pipeline, no potential clients, I suddenly felt like I didn’t have a business.”

This was her biggest “oh shit” moment. “I knew I only had so much time before I’d have to go back and get a full-time job.” But instead of giving up, Maggie treated January 2023 as a fresh start. She honed in on content marketing—her passion for social media, email marketing, and blogs—and niched down her clientele to female-founded lifestyle brands. She also doubled down on networking, meeting with anyone and everyone who could help her move forward.

“It took me at least six months to feel like I was somewhat back to where I was,” she says. But even then, entrepreneurship remained a rollercoaster. “Some months were so low that I thought, ‘Who am I going to ask for a job?’ And on top of that, imposter syndrome was real. The highs were high, but the lows were drastic.”

As Maggie navigated these challenges, she also learned the importance of self-care. “The things you go through postpartum—you can’t plan for them,” she says. After an unexpected emergency c-section with her second child, she had to give herself grace. “I had just done one of the hardest things ever, and it was okay that my business wasn’t wildly successful right away.”

By spring 2023, she took a proactive approach to her well-being. “I started focusing on better eating, moving my body, and implementing better habits. Even just a small walk with my babies helped.”

She also recognized the importance of charging what she was worth. “One of my biggest mistakes was taking whatever work I could and offering discounted prices. I was overworking and not getting paid enough, which made me work even more. I wasn’t taking the proper breaks I needed.”

In the summer of 2024, Maggie took another step toward building a supportive community. She hosted the first Foundership Coffee event, bringing together around 40 women. “It all came from that need I had forever ago—we all need community,” she says.

Since then, The Foundership has grown to over 100 women. “We help each other learn how to do things better, whether it’s entrepreneurship or motherhood. When you’re in a low month, you have people there to remind you that you’re doing a great job and you’re not alone.”

While Wrinkles continues to provide high-quality digital marketing services to small businesses, Maggie sees her true passion reflected in The Foundership. “I love badass female founders who are figuring it out, building cool things, and trying new ideas. For me, it’s all about collaboration, not competition. My favorite people to sit down with do the exact same thing I do.”

Her ultimate goal? To empower women to work together and support one another. “Working together will take us farther. Having a community is an absolute game changer in entrepreneurship. I just want women to know they can do it.”

Through Wrinkles and The Foundership, Maggie Glenski is proving that success isn’t just about climbing the corporate ladder—it’s about creating a sustainable, fulfilling career while lifting others up along the way.
