Stepping into Theresa Goodman’s metaphysical shop feels like stepping into a sanctuary for the soul. From vibrant crystals to healing herbs and tools for spiritual wellness, her store radiates warmth and purpose. But beneath the surface lies an incredible journey of resilience, transformation, and dedication.
“The accident further pushed me into my calling,” Theresa shared, reflecting on the life-altering moment that shaped her path. Eight years ago, as a yoga instructor, she was hit by a car. That near-death experience didn’t just test her physically, it ignited a deeper connection to her purpose.
Theresa describes her healing journey as a crucial chapter in her life. “If you don’t heal yourself, how can you teach others how to heal themselves?” she explained. “It was the start of not just healing my physical body, but my emotional body.” For Theresa, this profound transformation wasn’t an introduction to holistic living; it was a continuation of a path she had been walking since childhood.

When she was nine years old, a homeopathic doctor moved in with her family and taught the community about natural healing practices. That early exposure to holistic health became a cornerstone of her life. “I’ve always done this lifestyle. From a young age, I’ve always been in the natural and holistic realm,” she said. “Throughout your life, you have these things that happen to you, and your body tends to hold on to those tragedies and emotions.”
This deep connection to holistic health flourished when Theresa moved to Kansas City and began working for the Phoenix Herb Company. It was during this time she realized her dream of owning a shop dedicated to spiritual wellness. “I would always say, one day I’m gonna open my own shop,” she shared. “I didn’t know how it was going to happen; I just knew it was gonna happen.”
Eventually, the opportunity arose, and Theresa seized it. She opened her shop just before the COVID-19 pandemic, a time of uncertainty for small business owners everywhere. Despite the challenges, she stayed resilient. “I said, you know what, we are going to stay open. This is where we should shine, and we should empower the community to take better care of ourselves.”

The community’s response was overwhelming. “Because it was such a grassroots organization after COVID, the community came out and supported. The community is what built this business,” Theresa said. Her marketing strategy, unlike traditional methods, focuses on building meaningful connections. “Real marketing is making person-to-person connections.”
For Theresa, her work transcends commerce. “I want everyone on this planet to be able to live a healthy, wholesome life: mind, body, and soul. Everybody deserves that,” she said. She credits the support of like-minded women and local entrepreneurs for helping her navigate the challenges of running a business. “Find your people,” she advised. “Be friends with other business owners. We’re not competing with each other. There’s plenty to go around, especially for supporting one another.”
Her philosophy extends to the broader system as well. “Our current system is based on scarcity—that’s an illusion,” she explained, championing collaboration over competition.

Now, Theresa is taking her mission on the road. She was recently gifted a trailer fully set up for retail, that will enable her to launch a mobile version of her shop. This mobile extension will offer the same spiritual wellness items found in her store, bringing her holistic vision to an even wider audience.
Theresa Goodman’s story is one of perseverance, purpose, and community. She continues to inspire by living her truth and encouraging others to find healing for their mind, body, and soul.
